What is the Epiphany of our Lord?

I asked myself this question and thought I can’t be the only one who isn’t quite sure. The day of the Epiphany is celebrated on January 6th. The season of Epiphany is from January 6 until the day before Ash Wednesday, which is March 4th this year. The word itself can mean, "to shine upon," "to reveal or show," “to make known,” or "to appear, manifest." This is the time when we celebrate important events from the life of Jesus Christ such as God's revealing of Christ to all nations as the light of the world and Jesus' baptism in the River Jordan. God revealed Jesus to the Magi who were Gentiles that followed the Star to Bethlehem to find Jesus, they received Him, worshiped Him, and bestowed gifts upon Him. Remembering the Epiphany reminds us that we also have been sought out by God. Have a blessed Epiphany celebration!

Official Notice

The 2013 Annual Meeting of the Eastside Community Lutheran Church will be held on January 26, 2014 immediately following our regular service. There will be refreshments. We will be providing a finance summary for 2013 and a proposed budget for the upcoming year, 2014. This is a great opportunity to look back on the previous year and a glimpse into what we have in store for the church in the year to come. It is also a time that you can refresh your memory and see who is on the church council. You may have some ideas or concerns to add to the meeting. Please join us and make this new year a successful one, we couldn’t do it without you!
